Day 1: Arrive in London, Connect to Edinburgh; Mordun Institute and Rosslyn Chapel

We left Thursday March 3rd. We all arrived by 3pm to get our boarding passes, check our bags, say goodbye to loved ones, and get through security. It took about an hour to get through security and after that we passed the time playing games and filling out surveys.




We arrived in London around 6am. We had quite an exciting morning but we made it to Moredun Institute and Rosslyn Chapel.

Here's a bit of history about both places:
Moredun Research Institute was originally established in 1920 and was known Animal Diseases Research Association in 1920 by and for farmers to help improve the health of their livestock. Its main research goal is to improve animal health and welfare through the prevention and control of infectious diseases in livestock.

Rosslyn Chapel was founded in 1446 and it still holds church services weekly. One of the most things it's famous for is the setting for Dan Brown's novel, The Da Vinci Code.

Day 7-Harper Adams University-Student Perspectives

   Day 7- Harper Adams University and Afternoon in Iron Bridge Gorge  At Harper Adams today we had an opportunity to tour the grounds and the units. The first thing I noticed were the sheep in the front lawn. I thought to myself, wow I sure would love to go to a school that had sheep to welcome you! Harper Adams is a very old university that is settled within the countryside of Newport Shropshire, England. The school was opened in 1901 that had a total of 6 students. Needless to say it had grown rapidly since then in size and technology. We first had a brief introduction from one of the staff Mitch Crooks. We then, toured the dairy unit which housed around 300 milking Holstein cows. I have been to the unit back at NC State but this one is off the bat much larger an seems to be much more advanced than ours. Day 8-Bath and Stonehenge

Thursday March 12th We had an early start this morning in order to cover two extraordinary cultural sites today: Roman Baths and Stonehenge before heading into London.  Our first stop was Bath England where we had a couple of hours to walk around, shop, and see the Roman Baths.  Students pose in front of Bath Abbey. Bath Abbey is right next to the Roman baths and was built between 1499-1616. There is even some ties to America in this abbey! Inside Bath Abbey. This is the Great Bath. The statues that line the perimeter are famous Roman emperors including Caesar.   Sarah T. and Ana at the Great Bath. This bath also would have been originally covered by a vaulted roof. You're not allowed to go into the pool.  But it's a little green so I don't think that swimming would be a good idea anyway.  Karl and I posing with the "Romans".  We then ventured on to Stonehenge for the afternoon. Day 4-Student Perspectives

Edinburgh Castle/St. Andrews-March 8th, 2015 On Sunday, March 8th we toured Edinburgh Castle then drove to St. Andrews to spend some time sightseeing and to see the golf course. The tour at the castle was self-guided, so once everyone got their tickets, we were free to wander around the castle and the different rooms inside including the story of the story of the Crown Jewels and the Crown Jewels themselves. In one of the rooms [in the castle] they remembered the soldiers that fought for Scotland. The oldest and younget were remembered and depicted. The oldest being an 89 year old man who carried the youngest around with him, who was only months old. When we got to St. Andres, we had around these hours to walk around the town. The town was on the coast and there was a pair to walk down to get a better view of the water and town. The city itself looked very old with many beautiful buildings.
